I like the style, congratulations on new home also. Hopefully join the boat soon!

No haggling, it was already carpetted and priced at 144k, I think it's just to get someone in and get the momentum going. The show house (which is a 4 bed with an attached garage) is up at £174,950 but the one next door which is now occupied and exactly the same went for £164,950 last december.

Keep us updated on your progress and good luck pal!

Thanks mate.

Just out of interest, what sort of price would you be looking for a similar property down south?

I've been looking all over for inspiration, mainly browsing AV Forums looking at some of the setups. I've got an idea what I want to do with the living room now, but that's about it!

Anyone know of any good sites for inspiration in terms of bedroom, home office, gardens etc?

Ikea website? Or just a walk around there one. We also bought Home magazine or some shit, was useless

We're after an all-in-one unit thing for one wall in our living room, should be able to put everything on that and keep the rest of the space relatively open.

http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/S69866103 something like that, but with an additional bookcase on either side, should fit the whole of one wall.

Then a mirror and some lighting on the opposite wall to brighten it up a bit, we've got a black and silver sofa set, so all relatively dark, but the patio doors will provide a lot of light.

Where my parents live (Windsor/ Thames Valley) around 350 - 400k
Where I live, 300k

Its bigger than my place, 2 more bedrooms, own garage and I paid 250

To put it into context, this is one road away from me

It seems were quite fortunate then!

Went shopping at the weekend for a few bits and bobs...

The Sofa (not in that colour, it's in a light brown colour, will look excellent against the carpet I think. Also got a matching foot stool too.

Dyson Animal it had to be a small cylinder one to navigate all them stairs

Dishwasher which we managed to get for £207.

Fridge Freezer that we got down to £270

and the washing machine which we managed to get down to £207 also so we've managed to kit the kitchen out with appliances for £684.

Also went to ikea and bought a few bits and bobs but didn't go overboard. Will keep updating as and when!

Quick Update!

Valuer valued it at £135,000, then after receiving some comparable information from the builder, knocked his price back up to £142,000 and the builder has accepted! (a saving of £2,950 from the initial price we were going to pay)

That garage looks tiny. Don't know how some of these builders can build a garage knowing that no modern family car could fit in it. Not everyone has mini's.

House does look great inside, But I have never liked the look of the 3 storey houses from the outside.

The dishwasher looks like a friendly robot

You did well getting the carpets etc in with the cost of the house, we went to the Miller option centre yesterday, and Carpets and curtains/blinds for rooms came to about £4,700!

Quick question without making a new thread...

I did our snagging list on Friday and at present, the bathroom doesn't have a shower screen installed. I assumed this was something that is required under building regulations? I questioned this and they said that at the time when the house was completed, it wasn't something that was required under regulations.

Could anyone in the know help me on this. I know its probably only £50 for a shower screen, but it would be £50 saved and it would be 1 less job for me to do.

Thanks in advance!

Congratulations mate, at least one of us has had things done as they should be!

we're STILL being fucked around over the mortgage, apparently 2 weeks ago they sent letters off to our employers, Royal Mail either didn't recieve or ignored them, so they've been chasing that up over the last couple of days.

Our IFA's are useless, they're the people who are meant to be sorting this shit out, but apparently haven't done anything.

Right, been a bit slack updating this since we've moved in, but I never seem to have a minute!

Managed to get round to painting the garage in stages over the past couple of weeks...

Before:

During:

After:

Massive improvement I think, wouldn't mind a worktop and a couple of cupboards on the back wall, best get down to Wickes/Focus/B&Q!

Been doing a bit on the garden too, will get them uploaded tomorrow.

edit: All images on flickr...
