you can do it with a really long socket set, or sparkplug removal tools, they are hollow steel pieces of pipe with a handle attached to twist the plug out. First of all, take the sparkplug covers off, twist them off (the metal bits), if they don't twist, get a screwdriver, put it in both the little dimples at the top of the cover and turn.

Right, its bubbling from the rocker gasket, and i unplugged the oil sensor ands its full of oil..

I started it up with it plugged in, started normal, as it would. Didn't move it tho, just let it tick over... I got a feeling it could be 2 do with this?

nasty. when my old 12 volt kept cutting out it was the crankshaft position sensor that was fucked. had the same shit as you though. limping it for half a mile then it would cut out and not start again for 10-20 mins. it took me about 2 hours to drive 3 miles.

Right, The oil light was flicking very lightly at me as i was driving, then the oil light come on full, and then cut out..

I've checked the dipstic, and its half way between low and full. So that isn't a problem, but the oil sensor and rocker gasket is all wet around the sides, well its oil... Is it loosing pressure? It will idle fine but will rattle once given it revs. I ain't driven yet, just let it idle just incase.
