Mortgage underwriters are busy, estimate they will look at ours next Monday or Tuesday. Defo halted progress which we didn't need at this early stage.

We have been doing that, hopefully can get the valuer out this week weather permitting, going to pested the solicitor then over Christmas as we think it will be skeleton staff keeping it ticking over so if we keep ringing up they might pick the work up rather than leave it over Christmas.

The house has now been valued for our mortgage application. Not sure what happens now, going to speak tot he broker. When should we start looking around for house insurance? the valuation mentions a insurance valuation and i've been told it is cheaper to get insurnace from a third party rather than using the morgage company so i'm wondering when to start looking about for it?

Get a couple of quotes for home insurance from a couple of big companies. Halifax, Aviva etc.

Ask your broker when the mortgage offer will be out. You need to keep the pressure on really. The abbey are dead slow.

Bloody banks take forever, they wanted a mining search, the solicitor promptly faxed it through, phoned up today and they are waiting for the search, takes then 48 hours to get through the faxes! Why does every simple task have to take at least 2 days!!!!!!

48 hours to pick up the faxes, now they have acknowledged a fax has come it will take 72 hours for someone to actually look at it. Fucking joke!

nearly 10 days have gone, that is how long it has taken this Mining Search to get back from their surveyors, she couldn't promis that the underwriters would pick it up Friday so may still be Monday! I can't believe how long banks take to do stuff, no wonder everything has gone tits up!

We have had our mortgage offer today, after we got loads of miss information on the 3rd call today to A & L (first one i made) she passed it to a manager and assured me it would get seen today. We exchange Friday complete Tuesday next week, all being well. Turned out good as the public order notice will be out Friday so it won't give others time to scupper our bid (hopefully!).

We were meant to exchange today, guess what.... we didn't. Should be tomorrow now, hoping for an exchange and completion on the same day but i'll be happy to exchange just to get it off the bloody market.

Theres always a lot of heel dragging whn it comes to buying a house, best thing to do is not get too excited & just leave it to the solicitor to sort out, thats what their paid for after all

Yeah mate, relieved if nothing else. Been screwed over for 250 though for valuation fee we were meant to get back, which is a bit of a shitter. Also got to start messing about getting rid of the prepaid meters for both gas and electric and all that kid of shit and get everything back on, I'm sure it will all be good fun.
