and when ever do you see a standard rs turbo, there all chipped and boost turned sky high if any kevin has had there hands on it..

where as a xe nova/corsa has just had it dropped in by the local 'badboy'

so i would say its fair tbh..

a standard rs turbo thats been chipped? would that then make it not standard?

plus the RST's are much better than a mk2 astra GTE, so the redtop comments a bit dead

Better? In what way?

much better handling, and pretty much even in a straight line

known soooo many people rs turbos, reckon there mint and tbf they are, but underneath the kit is a different thing, they rot silly amounts underneath the kit (arches/skirts)

to get a nice one, there around £4k, well one worth buying imho as they do have alot of faults if people have messed with them which being an rs turbo it will 99% has..

and standard there slow as muck..

my mates got a

2 owner
80k miles (fsh)
black series 2 on 17" diamondcut 7 spokes, its a nice bit of kit
few nice tweaks to safe 180bhp just to take the edge

I used to own a S2 (pics in my garage). I absolutely loved it. It was mildly tweaked and went quite well. Had to sell it when i wanted to move out of my parents house.
One day i will own another.

keep an eye out for ringers too, too many I.D's being sold about. But body work mainly, sunroof casette is a nightmare, as is battery tray, fuse box tray.

^^ i was just about to post that link. the RS turbo's are bloody quick. Weigh nothing and the CVH is a really grunty 1.6 (even in n/a form), so pulls really well. I do love RST's, both S1 and S2, and the attention you get when you are in one is unbelievable.

tbh, they are worth the money you have to put in for welding. wont cost more than £500 normally, and they are now starting to gain value...so a tidy one will actually pull itself up.

Crackin cars!

10 years ago they used to be a chavs car. Now when i see an S2 its usally a ford nut whos wanted one since he was 4 or an older bloke re living his youth.

RS turbo is a cult car, and well worth investing in a good one as they are only going to go up in value.

As for the astra gte being famed for its handling? it received lots of bad press for its handling, it was its straight line stomp that it was famed for.

As said, go for one, but budget high, prepare to travel and buy the absolute best you can.

Then you can plough all your money and efforts in to making it silly fast and changing the gearbox every few months.

My uncle has had his prettey much from brand new. Did all the work to it around 10years ago. Running around 250-300bhp. Hasnt used it for the past 6-7years now tho. Sits in the garage or on the drive. Takes it out now and again to keep the rust off the brakes e.t.c.

Handles like its on rails. I would love one! and as other people have said, there now going up in price!

Has front heated screen aswell which I thinks amazing for a car of that age!
