It once again hinges on the driver.
A good driver with a phone/ciggy could still be 100 times better on the road than a bad driver who shagged her way through a driving test.

smoking is no harder than drinking or eating. you know how to opperate your lungs without thinking about it as you do that to breathe. you know where your mouth is so that doesnt matter. texting, people say they can do it without looking but in reality, you have to look. i dont have to look at anything to smoke a cig while driving other than the road infront. i can hold the steering wheel and a cigarette at the same time.
i cant text and drive without looking. i cant have a phone conversation without wacing my arms around even though the person cant see me.
thats just me though. smoking is like breathing to someone thats addicted. to type a text or talk on phone takes concentration and makes you focus on other things.
ps, kfc is fuckin awesome. followed by a tab while driving.

I always use my phone when driving in work, I wouldnt say it changes my driving ability, I've been on the phone and still avoided other peoples fuck ups.

I saw some dickhead eating a Maccy D's, using his elbows to steer. Very dangerous shit he was doing, speeding up, cutting people up, even took his chance at a large round about by not even consideing what was coming and took his chance. Felt like following him and cracking him square in the nose for it.

It's illegal to smoke and use a mobile phone. Eating is down to the copper to prove you were driving dangerously I believe.
The smoking thing came in a while back.

Wasn't aware of smoking being illegal tbh. Always do, every time i drive anywhere. It is no where near as bad as texting IMO, Even when having a fag i use my right hand on the wheel, when i take a drag i hold with my left hand only and when i need to change gear round a corner just hold the wheel like normal.
No different from scratching your nose imo.
Clever people would also wait for a road where they wont need to change gear or stop for roundabouts etc i.e. Motorway/Dual Carriage way for example.

Good job the smokers don't live in Taiwan. They're banning smoking in cars, while walking, and bizarrely - riding motorcycles.

its worse....
if you can get 'done' for eating or drinking at the wheel you should get the same or worse for smoking.

I quit smoking not long ago, but when I did smoke I could find my tabs without taking my eyes off the road, and if I dropped ash on the seat I left it, I did drop a tab once though I wouldn't say its all that dangerous, but it can take some peoples concentration.

Oh and it is NOT illegal to smoke behind the wheel, it IS illegal to light a tab up while driving though.
Or at least that's what a cop told me.

Dont understand why you would want to smoke in your car anyway, means it stinks of fags and nobody likes a car that smells like an ashtray!
