Managed to get the engine out yesterday, although it took about 6 hours to do it, because of a crappy engine hoist , that went up about a mm at a time, even though we checked the oil, anyway some pics;
Started to strip it today, but need to buy a torx socket to get the bottom pulley off, so i can take the plastic cover off to get at the timing belt, then get the head off

Well haven't updaed this in a while , i gave up on it for a while, as i changed my mind and was saving for a corsa c sri 1.8, but then after seeing so many of them around my way i decided i didn't want one anymore, anyway i stripped the engine down to the bare block and started again, first of all i went shopping and bought:
Bottom End:
New big end shells
New Main shells
New big end bolts
New main cap bolts
Sump gasket set
Oil Pump
Water pump
Piston rings
Head:
Head gasket set
Cam sensor
Timing kit
New head bolts
Alt belt
Thermostat
And sent my head of to Philip2 on here (Any head work, i recomend him!), But due to me being in a slight rush, and Phil not having time to do the head, he kindly gave me another head he had already done, that he's skimmed, put new valve stem seals in, cleaned and lapped the valves back in, and ported the inlet and exhaust ports
Then it was time to get rebuilding, i cleaned all the parts ready to go back on and hammerited the block, then set about rebuilding:
New main shells
Then got the crank in and torqued the main bolts up, then got the piston rings fitted and put the pistons in the block and tourqued the big end bolts up
Then got the oil and water pumps fitted, along with the oil pick up pipe and the sump
Next job, i made sure that the top of the block was clean and put the new head gasket on
Then gave the head a clean, and here's a crap picture of one of the ports
So then got the head on and all bolted down to the correct torque settings
Then refitted the lifters
And got the cams in, with new seals
Next job was the one i was dreading, but it turned out fine and i got it right first time timing it, with the new timing kit
Then i fitted the alt, the thermostat housing and new thermostat, then the new alt belt, cam sensor and timing belt cover, and this is how i left it yesterday
Orderd a new clutch that should be here tomorrow, so hope fully get the gearbox on tomorrow night
I also managed to swap my boot and rear bumper off the SXi on to the Sport
More updates soon!
Cheers
