Yeah both are. Front is a 120/60/17 instead of a 110/70/17 and the rear is a 160/60/17 instead of a 150/60/17.
Its what nearly all RS250 owners are running

Absolute stunner!
And my SV will be for road and trackdays, no racing for me, can't afford it. And I work shifts so I can't commit to a race calendar.
I like the idea of a C.S trackday, I use my corsa to tow my bike

Well quite a big update from the last one.
I went to Mallory Park on 18th March as i said, but it didn't really go to plan. After a few laps of the first session, the coolant temperature kept rising and then it'd shoot up and blast out coolant from the catch tank. In the end i packed up early not a happy bunny. Found that one of the head gaskets had gone, so replaced that and went to Cadwell Park a month later where it lasted all 6 sessions. Great!
The bug had well and truely hit me again, so went back to Cadwell two weeks later. The bike lasted 10 mins of the first session. Twat! The other cylinder's head gasket decided to go in a big way. When i was stripping it down in the paddock there was a pint of water in the exhaust chamber! So off i went packing - again!
I'd met someone at Cadwell who had the same bike so got a lot of info off him. I was told to use genuine Suzuki/Aprilia gaskets as pattern ones weren't up to the job. So off i went and spent £96 on two head gaskets and two base gaskets, got it put back together and headed to Rockingham to try it out. It lasted that day and another three after that! Here's some pics of my trackdays...
Now that its running right, its time to get it running a little faster. Turns out that the guy who had it before me didn't really know what he was doing, even though he's meant to be a specialist for these bikes....
The bike had a Suzuki RGV airbox on instead of the bigger Aprilia one (Aprilia uses the same engine as the Suzuki RGV but the RGV has a narrower frame hence the smaller airbox). I got hold of the right airbox along with a ram air tube. Got this all plumbed in.
Airbox and ram air tube
Front snorkel with fine mesh to stop stones getting down. Although its not neat its work in progress.
Now that its got more air in the box, it needed the main jets upping. After stripping down the carbs i found that it was running too lean and the jets that have to be bigger on the left hand side were in the right hand side carbs! It runs one size larger main jets in left hand carb because the right hand cylinder is tilted forward behind the radiator and gets air flow over it keeping it cooler than the right hand cylinder thats vertical (its a 60 degree twin). Strange as it may seem, but more fuel makes it run cooler, hence the left hand carb having bigger main jets. The original jets in it were 260 and 280 which is standard jets. Now it runs premixed oil and petrol (instead of oil injection) the jets weren't big enough to allow oil through aswell as petrol.
The carb set up. I don't have pics of the arrangement of the jets under the carb bowl.
These are the assortment of main jets that i bought. Got them in stages of 10 starting from 290 to 360. I put 340 in the left hand cylinder and 320 in the right hand cylinder.
I took the bike out at Mallory Park again to see how it ran. There was a big difference from 9k rpm to the redline but throttle response wasn't as good. The next thing to try was dropping the needles down a clip.
Needle/spring/slider assembly built up
Needle/spring/slider assembly in bits. You can just see the ring on the needle where a circlip is placed to set the position of the needle.
That was all re-assembled and its now time to see if it works. I'm back at Cadwell park on Thursday (9/9/10) to see if its made a difference. I might have to drop the main jets one size. Then once thats going i'll be on the look out for some cylinders and head that've had more work on them, and possibly a 'kit' CDI (ignition timer etc)

Only just seen this thread and I'm loving it.
I would love a 250 for a track bike but as I'm over 6 foot I wouldnt stand a chance, I'm too big really for my ZX-6R so on a 250 my knees would be touching the handlebars!!
What was it like on the track?

To be fair Recaro, the RS250 id quite a big bike for a 250 compared to other 250's like the KR1S and RGV 250. But then i'm only a short arse at 5ft6!
Bike ran pretty much spot on all day at Cadwell. Had to adjust the jetting as it was too rich. There was a massive flat spot from 3krpm to 9.5k rpm then a little one at 10.5k rpm. Went down 2 sizes on the main jets and it ran much better.
I think thats it now this year for trackday's though. The bike does feel a little tired now, as i was loosing a lot of time down the long straights to 600cc + bikes and having to do some lunging passes in the corners. Its also starting to rattle at the top end, so looks like it needs a top end re-build with new pistons, pins, rings and small end bearings and gaskets etc. Forks are leaking pretty bad now too.
Think i'm going to do a full proper rebuild for the frame up. Considering either having the frame powder coated matt/satin black or having it polished. New body work too as the cheap ebay stuff is wafer thin and blows about a lot. Seen as there is some interest in this thread i'll keep it updated
