Try my car. It is 10 years old this March, yet doesn't qualify.

Has to be a cut off somewhere I guess.

Annoying huh?

I've got a completely stripped down shell in my garage that I've owned for over a year. Might add on the basics just to get it through the MOT

Which has got me thinking...

I was going to say haven't you still got 9 corsa's? Get one running enough to pass an MOT and get shut.

Eh.

I went into vauxhall today and tested the scrappage theory as a woman I know would like to purchase a new sporthatch.

Astra sporthatch on scrappage is 10495

Without scrappage and haggling it was 10295

Scrappage and partners deals are rubbish, they are only used when the car is sold at top whack.

Without any discounts via any schemes they can usually srop the price further,

1.4 Astra sporthatch in 10reg ordered, free mudflaps and mats, and cheaper than scrappage

Find a Corsa the same as yours and present that, but accidently take along the V5 from your bare one.

If the government are splashing millions of pounds that we don't have on such a stupid scheme, you may as well make use of it in the most profitible way possible.

Alternatively if you want to do it legally then rebuild yours, which would actually be easier if you had said car parked next to the shell when you were doing it. That way you could change the engine subframes/assemblies as one instead.

You would still be up, and crucially it's in your name. Doing it via a friend is a bit too obvious and a bit too much out of your hands. DVLA decision is bound to go against you. Ringing a car (or if you want to be legal rebuilding using donar bits from the same year so it's undetectable) is in your hands at least.

Ian, both of them options crossed my mind!

Depends how thorough their checks are when you take the car in I suppose. If they check the vin number you're screwed

Not if you ring it properly but that involves cutting and welding.

Building your shell back up from a complete car worth of bits makes the most sense. Just get one the same build year so if you look on the plastic parts, the build ident is still the same.
