Engine development for mclaren f1, I am doing motorsport engineering but its unlikely ill get that far without some seriously lucky breaks

So the aquisition of wealth is the driving force in 90% of peoples lives then?

Im not convinced thats the road to happiness.

My dream job would be working in conservation, for example the current project in South Africa to reintroduce white lions to the wild.

I think most peoples dream is to not work at all, so inevitably this means having a massively paying job for a short period

not really wealth as such (although it's part of the package) just flying, going to nice places and the air hostess's

Have you checked out Prodrive?
Closer to home and more accessible to get into than McLaren.
Also good start on the ladder

Not really looked into much yet because I'm not in the position to stet applying yet, prodrive have recruited directly from my course in the past though and we're going there for a tour later this year I think!

Wealth normally comes from a good job though. And as people want good jobs then its only natural that they'd be cashing in. Unless people are only naming jobs as they know they are well paid.

Head or Recruitment for an oil & gas company.

Currently a recruitment consultant for the Oil & Gas sector so fingers crossed one day the above will happen. Doubt it though lol!

Chap who used to be on here done motorsport.

Now works with race teams, and works at McLaren. Not sure what doing, but I know he's been to spain a lot recently.

Dream job - USAF Pilot. Or astronaut. Or motor racing driver (not got the balls for bikes at top end ). Or a wildlife conservationalist, checking, clipping, monitoring wildlife. Or own my own prestigious bike shop and run a racing team.

to become the boss, have flexibilty to come and go, pick up kids etc

and the financial security to be able to go nice holidays, play some golf and spend time with the family

maintaining the vehicles in the ford heritage centre

i currently work 100 yards away from it. makes me laugh driving past it every day as it looks like a crappy old shed from the outside.
