might be lucky and find a leon cupra tdi for around 4k

although i love the fabia vRS. fantastic car!

Golf, mine was good for doing 100 miles a day in.

Didnt cost me any money to run.

Sold mine on a year ago for £2.9k, it was a 120k mile 2002 PD130 3dr in metalic black with anni front end & leather recaro's...........very nice looking car, but I ruined it with cheap coilovers & wheels. I should have for some BBS & dropped it on eibachs!

Fabia vrs's are ok.Quick enough, but in my opinion dont feel as well put together or designed as a golf.
I also do an 80 mile round trip to work, so bought a vrs, its for sale now as i just dont like it that much and need something even cheaper to run.

Then you can spend £3.7k on hookers and beer.

There is that option too, buy a shed to commute to work. Would want a good car too thats insured year-round, which I cant afford . 106 is only insured when I phone up for a cover note.

Honestly think about getting finance on something new(er). The PD lumps are old now and expensive to maintain. Yes the 130 and 150 are very good engines drive them like that and they are partial to a bit of the old go juice!

The 1.5dCi Clios are good on fuel?

If you can stretch to £5k then you can pick up a MK6 Zetec S TDCi for that money, great cars and very cheap to run, only £30 a year tax and over 450miles to a tank.

Forgot about CDTI C's, really like those. Not keen on fiestas, BMW would be a nightmare to maintain I would like, spares would be pricey.

Pow, new job might be as a £8k a year apprentice, so I cant go finance . If I was staying in my current job id have something awesome, but cant risk taking finance with my current job security

i went for a 2002 gt tdi pd 130 with 80k on it, got that for £4000

nice cars, quick, and just got 372 miles to half a tank using ultimate diesel.

£200 remap or power box will see you to 180hp 300/ft lb of torque or something like that fine on standard turbo + injectors but im going for a cold air kit, fmic and decat before mapping in summer.

A 2004/2005 Vectra SRI cdti 150. Alot of car for the money, one £200 DTUK tuning box later and you've got 200bhp.

I've got a 2002 facelift with the 150bhp engine, I payed 4k in january last year with 116k on the clock, I looked at golfs, a3s, leons etc but the bm is a much better car.

Noone seems to speak about the clutch's after remaps:

Uprated clutch is the only way to go, all the TDi130's do clutch slip once they've been remapped.
Saches uprated is a slightly cheaper option and it can handle 400lb^ft of torque.

A new dual mass is the way forward, they tend to start to wear after 50,000 miles anyways.

All in all you should be looking down the barrel of £1100 to £1300 all in fitted at a reputable
vag tuner like JBS or awesome-gti ect....

Lol, you dont have to change your clutch on a mapped pd130! Theres thousands off people who have no problems on standard clutch! If the car has done 70k+ its a different story though
