Get the modified landrover head gasket with the shim plate. If it was done properly at the rover garage it would have went again

Obviously £3.8k is going off the condition.zr's tend to have bopulster wear in the drivers seat, gear gator wear and rust on rear arches...oh and faded badges on the front and boot.if it has any of these an mg enthusiast won't pay too much but you have the right colour as people jump for black zr's

stolen off parkers.com

Original Priced £14,560
Independent Dealer £1,535
Private Good £1,465
Private Poor £1,030
Part Exchange £1,265

but they are always way out.you will definately be safe at 2k

I remember being told the headgasket problem with the K series was that the thermostat was at the bottom of the engine so because heat rises by the time the thermostat got the heat it needed to open, it's already boiling up at the top and melting the headgasket. Don't know how true it is but the same guy told me he'd found a kit where you take the stat out, cut the top hose then use the new stat housing to join it and once done he'd never heard of another headgasket problem. As I said I don't know how true it is, I've never worked on a Rover engine but it sounds possible

I've heard different.I heard it was because the water jackets wasn't in line but that could be a myth.the thermostat is on the top left of the head so not sure who told you that.that open very quick on cold mornings or within 3 mile of driving on a cold morning.

I s'pose that'd add up with the low capacity thing someone mentioned, if there's not much coolant it's not gonna take long to warm it up.

Maybe it's just witchcraft

It's more likely that it was just due to the fact it was made in Birmingham.

Ive just finished fitting an upgraded mls gasket to a k series, with the shim etc. Just got to plumb it in , get it running then sell it on

I will try and find a link to a good how to guide someone on one of the rover fourums has done if you want. Not sure how much different the vvt is but the normal ones are actually relaly easy to do.

This one had only done 46k and had one lady owner from new that drove like a granny ,makes you wonder what rover where playing out letting these engines get mass produced being so feeble.
