A 2 stroke 125 derestricted can make about 30bhp.
A 4 stroke 125 can make about half that.
Personally I like the noise and smell of a 2 stroke, coupled with more power and much easier engine rebuilds it's game on!
RS125 is the only choice. I'm looking for a cheap RS125 project to build up for my mrs.

RS 125, common as muck. Good little bikes, but 95% are ridden by gobby sh1tes.
I'd rather have a Mito....
But honestly... Would you pay £5k for that, or £6k for a new Tornado?????

Buy a scooter 2 stroke 125, mine does 70mph, out accelerates ALL cars from the lights and is fast enough to hold it's own on dual carriageways.

Ollie, the cars arn't trying.
Stop kidding yourself, scooters are awful. Holiday toys only.
Scooter isn't a bike, won't learn much, and as its a 2 stoke he'll be putting in as much oil as you do petrol.
He's a new ride. Get a 4 stroke!!!!

Went to the local bike centre test place in Maidenhead, and they said I may as well jsut do my direct access so that is what I am going to do I think!

Yeah, and theres always a bike specific forum to go on too. Although generic forums are quite hard to find (good active ones).
I'd agree with the test centre. There is nothing to stop you just getting a smaller engined/style bike and learning the basics on a cheap bike, then upgrade to something newer and nice in a year or twos time
Plus you can then give the bird to your dad as you come past on something that cost about the same as 2 tanks fo fuel for him

You do half talk some shit sometimes.
I'm not riding a shitty commuter 4-stroke 125cc, I suggest you pull your head out your arse and look beyond your own knowledge of crappy 4 stroke scooters. To give you an idea of the pace of my scooter I actually had a race with a Fiesta ST when I first got it off the lights and up to 50mph I was ahead, so people dordling around in traffic are easy to get away from.
As for oil consumption, I've filled up my Aprilia SR125 2 stroke with 1 litre of oil in 5,500KM's
Wake up you prat.

my mate had a white one, it was funny as fuck as he was 6ft tall and used to tower over it.
He was forever changing things to squeeze an extra 1mph out of it, it took so much effort to make it as fast as my SR50 (52mph) then he fit an 80cc bore kit and it was still slower than my mates RS50 (65mph)
I learnt to ride geared bikes on that, like you say easy to ride and handled nicely.

Ok Oli, you stick to your opinion, with your scooter.
I had scooters, both a 2 stroke AND a 4 stroke. I have a basis of an opinion.
Wow, you had a race with an ST, let me hold back the excitment at the intensity of the 0-50mph race with an already slow car
Scooters are quick of the mark as there is no skill require. Twist and go. A car will will be waiting out of gear.
Let the bloke decide. Go with the opinion of the full bikers on here, or listen to you with a 125 scooter preaching how 4 strokes are sh1te.
Why are you calling me a prat? For what reason exactly? Because I don't agree that 2 strokes are the best thing ever in 125 format.
Oh how little you know about me Oli. If you knew anything, you would know that i LOVE 2 strokes, especially the old GP500cc days, and i was GUTTED when they pulled the plug on the 250cc twins class in GP. So don't you dare preach to me about 2 strokes when I absolutly love them.
But at the end of the day, 4 strokes are better road engines, end of story.

THE LAD IS ASKING FOR ADVICE ON 2 STROKE 125'S
SEEING AS I OWN ONE I GIVE MY OPINION
I know there isn't a skill required, I've had two geared bikes what in the name of fuck has that got to do with it?
I don't own a fast bike as I have a fast car.
Fucking shitcunt

Now go read his first post again.
Says nothing about 2 strokes.
An opinion is fine. Nothing wrong talking about it. Being a child and sprouting names becuase someone doesn't agree with you, is not fine. If your that clued up, why not take your full test and get a grown ups 2 stroke bike? An LC350, or an RS250, RGV250, KR1S or something better than a hairdryer 2 stroke 125cc engine.
Abusive words again Oliver. For what reason again?
Whats the car got to do with this?

I had the VXR200.
It was slower off the mark than the Runner SPs, but would outpace it top end easily.
Thing is with small engined 125's is the gearchanges every 1/2 second. Its bad enough on my Bandit, but on the diddy bikes its a joke.
Fact, there a 50cc bike that done over 140mph, with 14 speed gearbox The thing is tiny, riding on tyres not even fit for a mountine bike

Look do you want a race or what? Me on my mates AR50 and you on your Honda Melody?
First one around the SNW Estate to Hildens shops gets to finger Claire Pocock down the woods.
