More fun speculating the value of an item - it is the internet after all

I had a receipt with my cavalier from cylinder head developments for a port & polish and pressure test then built up with 1mm oversized valves, kent double valve springs, kent spring retainers, kent hydraulic followers, kent ast1612 cams and pulleys. iirc that came up at £1300 + the cost of the c20xe head in the first place. £920 seems well worth it imo.

ive got £1500 in bits in my head atleast + if charged self for all the porting/skimming etc it would be more like £2-2.2k.

wasted valves, dual springs, steel caps, full race newman cams, piper verniers, arrow solid lifters, colsibro guides, 3angle seats + porting work, fitting guides etc

some big company heads are shocking though and some advice they've given for speccing heads is shocking. (cylinder head developements was one company who almost fucked one lads head up AFTER i respecced to head to suit what he wanted and they still left parts out)

that head looks too smooth in the inlet ports, looks abit like a autosprint head to me with the swirl marks on the rocker cover gasket surface...again ive seen a vw head done by autpsprint....wasnt impressed for the price either and then that ended up at my mates having 'k' liners fitted

i did a ported head for a lad with new guides, seats cut, ported etc so as good as new and that worked out about £500 with posting...stock springs, caps, he just wanted a top head that was right.

same old thing though people want something for nothing or very cheap, you want proper parts/job you have to spend the money

yeah and fuck it up lol, my mate 'had a go' he fucked it and i just managed to save the head. its not all about taking tons of metal out, its knowing where to take it out, whether you want the motor torquey or make more power topend, alsorts of little tricks.

whatever trollshaw. You dont even know what it is. How much is a race engine spec cylinder head worth? if you have an opinion the one that sold for 920 is over priced you must have am idea of what it is worth. Or you just trollshawing like normal?
