You will be limted if you just use the vxr one, if you ever got to the stage where yo wanted more power and the blower was working at it full them your gonna be in the same position you are now, needing a manifold and turbo, plus if you use an older garat one u could run it oil cooled only witch would be better for daily driving

TBH i would go custom manifold and down pipe, i would use either a t2 off an r5 or a t25 off a rover as they are probly easiest an cheapest turbo to get second hand so can always pick one up if needed. and if you get a manifold made to fit the t2 off the r5 the t25 has the same flange so can always change if wanted

if you are having it as a daily driver and using mapable management you could do what nic has got with his and have 2 maps so you can switch between them, have low boost for daily driving, then another boost setting at flick of a switch for more power

okay

fine a manifold that fits that you can buy off the shelf, or pick up second hand easy?

manifold and turbo in one, turbo is perfect to run on standard compresson low boost, AND has a internal dump valve, saves alot of costs and work

true saves costs but if you arent making the manifold but a company is its not making you any work, but for the price of the vxr turbo i bet i could get a manifold made cheaper and use a t25 off a rover, wich will be a hell of a lot cheaper to replace than a vxr one

all personal preferances TBH i personally wouldnt go for a vxr turbo where as you would, using a t25 flange you have so many more options available to go bigger or smaller without changing flange
