compared to the jeep that did 16mpg picking it up, the vx that does around 20 and also the van i think anything will seem good! lol

so ull have the vanimal, the vx and this?
yep,
i love the vx and struggling to find anything i want thats faster and anywhere near ao relialbe/practical to run etc
the van is off the road now and prob just use for track days now
so the clio will be perfect for normal everyday driving, looks nice, handles good, 6 speed to should be ok on fuel!
SORTED
You make it sound so normal to have 3 awesome cars, all in different ways. You work hard for it though give you that
could say that, its pretty much 3 years since my last week off from work, in thoes 3 years i have had 1 sunday off on a weekend for last years pvs and part from that worked every saturday and sunday for last 3 years so i think i earn every penny i get! lol

it was very touch and go it getting written off, but in the end i think it came down to the owner kicking up a fuss and not wanting the car back repaired! thats wot i was told, so it will be a cat D but i am not bothered cos keeping it! i expect to save over 4k on wot a normal one in same spec, age etc would have cost me!

Nice wee project !
Where you have cut the quarter panel out , is that where the new one gets welded back in or is there more stripping to do?

the garage had cut the 1/4 away before i got the car! i was thinking of cutting new panel down and welding new on just in that area but them mate noticed little tiny dink in the arch so i think i may cut whole 1/4 out and put full panel, wanna keep filler down to complete minimum on this cos its so new! gotta do thing properly!

Doesn't have to be mig braced. As long as it's not alli or another wired metal that they use these days miging wil be fine. Get the window removed and just go across the pillar half way up. But best way is to sleeve it (don't know the technical term) but when u cut the quater off, get a bit of metal off that old quater and then cut it dwn so u can weld it under the old quater and then be able to weld the new quater to that. Hard to explain really.

think i know wot u mean graeme, would u got cutting whole wing off or just replace the damaged area?
had the window taken out now, not sure about cutting whole wing at the moment cos its factory fited around the wheel arch at the moment and not sure i will be able to get it factory perfect if i put complete wing on! wot u think graeme?
sent part of damage panel off to nu-agane to get colour matched today

Have u got the new quater? Of so put up a picture off it but you goba have to take the bumper off and then drill the spot welds out and split the skins on the arch, and then attach the new one, u want to try and make the join at the smallest place possible. Is the 1/4 steel?
