Everywhere site I've looked on says the same, theres 3 models. 134, 136 and the 180 is really 174bhp.

Meh, doesn't really matter does it?
Everyone calls the 180 the 180 so why not call the 138 the 130?

most 180's make around 165-174 standard, never seen one below 160. Similar to the clio 172 which normally makes around 165bhp on the rolling road.

Do they call the 138 or w/e 130? No. So why does it matter if I call it the 130?

I think it was all to do with Peugeot wanting to put one over on renault with the 172. The quoted power is 174 bhp at the flywheel, but as said before most make between 160-175.

Must be a french thing as Ive seen a lot of 172's make 160 bhp-165bhp, having owned a 180 and driven a 172 theres not really that much in it on the road between the two.

I loved my 180, thought it was great, dont see many on the road and for the price it had a great spec, traction control, esp, automatic lights, auto wipers, climate control, great seats. I think they are a performance bargain, can pick up a good 04 plate for around £4000.

The only downsides would be the group 17 insurance for most people, and it could do with a 6th gear.

How bad is the gearing? thinking back to reviews at the time this seemed to be a major flaw and thus let the car down?

I think they look awesome though.

The gearing isnt too bad, is slightly on the long side, it does have a very tall first gear, which is meant for tight turns, hairpin bends which hampers the acceleration a little, also a lot of 180s had software upgrades from peugeot so the 7300 rpm limiter was moved to 7000.

I love french hot hatches , wish I had never sold my 205 GTi 1.6, now that thing was a hoot to drive , wasnt all the fast in a straight line, but show it a set of bends and it would eat them up very quickly

I bought a set of replica wheels of ebay, identical apart from the stick on centre badges which can be bought from Peugeot for pennies. Think they cost me around £400 with tyres and delivery, changes the look of the car dramatically, think I have some photos lying about somewhere.

Nice. Tbh, I wouldn't wanna pay that much considering I won't be keeping the car very long, doubt I'll have it any longer than a year, plus its coming with 15's with brand new tyres. Been told I can have some 206 standard alloys for a few quid but we will see when I go to pick up the car.
