tbh after the next 5-10yrs its going to be a lot more expensive and difficult to own a fast/performance car, non eco friendly car.

i would get in as low an mpg figure you can at the moment and enjoy something high revving, fast and uneconomical now while you still can.

sod worrying about mpg etc in your 20's ffs

Whats the depreciation on your current car going to be? If its more than a couple of grand I'm convinced it'd be a waste of money changing.

Get something fun and different.

I wouldn't buy another Alfa, go and get something decent. Sorry, get a Focus ST, CTR, Golf GTi for half the price and twice the fun and pay more for insurance.

Don't appologise OJC

Thing is, all those sort of things fall out of the cheaper fun catagory and into the expensive catagory, £245 tax, £1k+ insurance, half the MPG of mine, yes I'm earning but I don't want to spend EVERY penny I have on running a car. Thats why the Alfa apeals to me, nippy yet fairly economical engine, cheaper to run etc...

spending every penny you have running a car is a slight exaggeration, you earn about the same as me iirc and i am no where near spending all my money on the car. You're just used to not spending anything and scared of change

spend more on tax/insurance/petrol and less on a car, why buy something brand new, where's the value apart from its age?
