Absolutely. If the entire world wasn't so pre-occupied with nuclear weapons and 'defending our borders' we could get together and really splash out on space exploration.
Doubt it'll happen in my lifetime though

It's timescales that are the problem after the budget, we can't go anywhere fast enough which is more of a physics problem than a monetary one.

i would say its more religion that doesnt want you to believe it then governments, governments are just scared of the consequences if other life did exist, the fallout from a load of different religions basically being rubbished would be massive, a world full of people in denial too

Has anything come here? Well, if you had the technology to go through space, would you REALLY land on this planet seeing how corrupted and twisted the people that run the planets government is? They would take one look at us and carry straight on past. Waste of their time

well it depends on how you look at it, and what it is that travels through space.
If i were some sort of alien that did not give a fuck about anything other than my own race, flying about in a spaceship made form technology us humans dont have a clue about then why would you bother about the people or government when you could easily destroy anything.
