when I got a quote it said I have to pay a deposit of £500

But I already payed a deposit on my current insurance

From scratch you do. Not if he is changing car on an existing premium. They may however need more money to make up some of the difference in price.

A deposit? take it you are paying monthly? I find this mind boggling, get a quote on the internet choose the cheapest one, buy it. If you haven't been insured for long, phone up, ask if you can cancel and if you can get if any of that deposit back, which I doubt.

i've met jacko in real life too (oddly enough it was when i saw the car ) and as far as i remember he's a lovely lad. although in comparison to the people around at the time anybody could look like a lovely lad
