I dont like Aeon for the fact it doesnt have an A-Z, otherwise Id use it.
Ive tried it out twice before and simply dont like it for that reason.

I know theres remote shortcuts, but I dont want that

I would believe that, given that 2.3k is going to get you a entry-mid level project, like the panny AE4/5k projectors (very good for their money, but not highest spec).

I might be wrong, but I think we both have the pioneer kuro TVs? and I can notice an improvement between a BR rip and a 1080p rip (espically if the 1080p rip has been compresses, it really depends on the rip).

I dont normally download BR rips, I think I only have 2 or 3 in total (out of hundreds of videos), but on this occasion, I will be pulling out all the stops

The BR rip also has DTS-HD where all the other rips are only DTS, will I notice the difference? probably not, but atleast I know i'll be watching/listening in uber quality.

Yeah I have the Panasonic PTAE4000. The ironic thing is, I actually downloaded this full bluray rip too last night just because I bought a new amp (an Onkyo TX-SR875) and I wanted to 'test out' the full DTS-HD audio track

I have the denon 3310, and there's a warm glowing feeling inside when the blue 'HD Audio' LED is on at the front of the amp

As in an A-Z of film listing or A-Z where you can choose a letter and it'll list each film beginning with the letter?

I'm not the only one then

Find myself picking films now for their soundtrack just so my amp lights up like a christmas tree

Blu Ray / HD is £7?

I cant stand having piles and piles of dvds, I go for the more digital route;

Very fancy - but I dont have a BluRay player, and have no reason to get one, my DVD's look fine as they are

Plus I couldnt have a collection that big, the hard drive on my is only 80gb And Im not spending £100 on a 1TB hard drive to then get another solicitors letter through the door for downloads

Are you on Virgin Media by any chance?

DVD quality is fine for a small tv, but blow it up onto a 52" tv and it pixalates

Out of curiosity, what did you play the rip from?

Ive just gone to test mine, and I need to wait for a firmware update to play on my PCH C-200.
Reading into it, most BR players wont be able to play this without an update (thus making any 2.0 [pre network ports) obsolete).
Im gonna feel very sorry for most of these people.

It wont play on my PC or my PCH.

Im downloading a normal 1080p rip now (as I have friends coming round tonight), but now have to wait for Symbas to release the firmware.

Good choice, they are the same speakers that we have! Although we swapped the sub for a 200w M&K one

I downloaded it in 720p as soon as it came out because we wanted to watch it that night, but I left the Bluray rip downloading over night with the intention of watching it again tonight with my mates. I was going to try and play it on the PCH A-110 (I ordered the A200 but still waiting for stock to come in from aMP3) but now it looks like it might not work! I just opened it fine on the PC though using BS Player, but I dont have this PC connected to the main amp so I dont know if the DTS-HD track works or not. I'll see if I have any luck later!

lol, we have far too much in common I think.
I was contemplating the AE5000 a couple of months back, but REALLY need to save money.
The more time I spend looking at goodies on the net the more tempted I get.

must ..... not...... buy......

Hi Chris,

I have to say (for legal reasons), I backup my disks from my PC (rip them) and store them on my NAS.
I then use a popcorn hour C200 to stream them from my nas to my PC (over ethernet network, HDMI to my amp).

What I dont do is download them and store them on my amp

In terms of programs try looking at AnyDVD.

As drunkenfool said above, popcorn hour do a range of media streamers, which all the latest have the same hardware (CPU/RAM etc), so the choice of streamer is down to your requirements, i.e;

C200 - Has Internal Hard Drive for storage (videos/music/photos), and slot for BR/DVD drive
A200 - Has Internal Hard Drive
Popbox - Is just a streamer (ideal for small rooms/bedrooms).

Heres a comparison chart between the streamers, cant rate them enough.

Its very unclear afaik.. its something along the lines of "its perfectly legal to backup your own dvds", so long as you dont circumvent the protection.
