wow cant believe how scabby the powercap and battery tray looks, good job cleaning it up, where has the black plastic thing to cover the dizzy cap went? looks a lot better than the ornage.
yeah it wasnt no have arsed bodged job, the engine got all new seals, belts etc, then cleaned up and painted, i painted the engine bay, and underneath the car was all painted nice and black, and i used to like to keep on top of it, but since i sold it i suppose the other owners never.
in the year leading up to me selling it i only did 3k miles in it
hope you enjoy the car mike and sure you will make a good job of it
the speedlines were nice polished, but pain in the arse to keep clean, i was wanting to get the speedlines that were on it when i sold it powdercoated same colour as rocker cover etc, but ended up just selling it.

ok so was at my car till about 3 oclock this morning got everything changed over from the old bottom end pullys, tensioners, water pipes, flywheel, clutch, gearbox, sensors, sump and dipstick housing. then bolted it back in place. just the bent valves to replace and put the head back on. didnt really take any pics last nite apart from the damage on the old bottom end.
this is the hole the conrod left...
and this is the big end shell(for those of you that dont know its supposed to be a semi circle)..

****UPDATE: 14/05/10****
ok didnt get any pics of the process of puting the engine back together as i was just in too much of a hurry really trying to get it ready for total vauxhall which was sunday past. worked solid from 10:30 saturday morning till 90 sunday morning without sleep just a cup of coffee every few hours.
got engine in wired up and every thing ready to go and it wouldnt start it wont even crank so its getting trailored along to my dads and hes gona have a look at it.
so in the end i just towed it out to crail with my astra so it was atleast there...
sitting next to 'sri boy' and mate jack (jack1.6valver)
my astra gsi..
so should have it running this weekend fingers crossed...

wish i had finished it and took it to more shows, i was only ever at crail once with it and that was in its first disguise (polished wheels etc)
cant help thinking though how muh a set of black morettes like i had, or if you are wanting to make it different to what it was when i built it, then maybe smoked depos
hope you get it running again buddy!!
