It's high.

People who say mileage doesn't matter are people who want to sell a high mileage car or can't buy a low mileage one.

Ok, I'll continue living in the fantasy world and buying low mileage cars.

As said right at the beginning, it depends what decent means to you.

He won't get a low mileage nice example in that budget, fact.

Im still struggling to see where he has stated it needs to be low mileage.

P.S,step in to the real world and buy a looked after car with slightly over average miles. You will be amazed but at the same time, gutted that you have been buying these so called low mileage cars when the higher mileage examples are just as good.

70-80k in his first post, that's lower than 130.

Why do that when I can buy a well looked after one with low miles?

But still not what you class as low mileage.70-80k is high mileage compared to the 60k you class as low.

I was saying roughly, if you want to be funny about it though, 10 or 20k above 60 is still much much lower than 130k.

But then 10k above average isnt what i would call high mileage.

Average 10k a year so a 51 plate golf is average with 90k miles. Making 125k high!

Mileage-wise anything over 120k would really put me off unless it was significantly cheaper than my target mileage.

Ideally I'd want less than 100k if I'm spending £2k or more.

And decent condition to me means no rusty arches, no dents.

I don't mind marks here and there.

I think I'm realistic. Definitely interested to hear from people who own/run one...

I love my diesel Corsa, so the engine in the Golf would be fine.
The build quality must be better, as must the interior. PAS, C/L, E/W would sell it for me! Coming from a poverty spec Corsa.

If I found one with decent alloys, lowered and tinted windows with a tow bar. I'd spooge myself.

I'm not talking about average at all, i'm talking about high or low, what people want to class as average is irrelevant.

I make them up depending on what I'm looking at normally.

Over 60k is normally high to me though.

I wouldn't be looking at a 20 year old car, if I was I'd have to research what I was looking at.

As far as your point goes though, yes.

I'd be judging whether mileage is high or low depending on the engine too.

A 2 stroke 250cc race bike would be high at 20k.

A VW diesel lump would be high at 160k

I've been hearing bad things about mk4 Golf's electrics?

I'm trying to sell mine atm, cost me £2,495 and came with faulty speedo and still has it, with 114,000 when I brought it. Only a 90bhp S TDi though, but went back to a Corsa, a Sport this time, as the Golf was the most boring drive of my life. Also with the Speedo's, they are a common fault from me looking on forums, and alot of people's speedo's die on the MkIV's.
