on week days i get 4-5 hours sleep a night. I think this has increased the amount of snooze presses. Its only work i snooze for. If i have to be up early for any other reason its no problem getting up.

Set alarm for 7.10, usually get out of bed around 7.30 and snooze is in 5 minute intervals. I'd like to just set my alarm for 7.30 but then i'd probably end up doing the same till about 8

Boringness.

Sorry to break this to you mate, but theres already an i-phone app which monitors your sleep patern through the night & awakens you at an optimal pre-determined time
Was just about to say the same

Set my clock for 5.45 this morning as i had some stuff to do early. Because i was still awake at 4am decided to get up at 8 and was late for work

Snooze generally goes off a couple of times for me in the mornings.

Yeh but it's shit.

I use it... it doesn't work for 2 reasons.

1 ) the way it senses the best time to wake you is just crap - doesn't work.

2 ) the way it wakes you is not gentle... when the alarm goes off, it vibrates hard and almost instantly gets loud. Therefore you just reach across and switch it off (there's no snooze) and then wake up 3 hours later late for work.

Yeh but, it was using that app... that made me think about the idea I suggested on the prev page. I like the thought of a 30 minute window to wake up in, but just think it needs a better approach to wake people up.

on early shifts i wake up at 5:30am.

i would hate being woken up at 5am, even if it is gentle.

i dont see why having an alarm based around the right time in your sleep pattern would help me get up for work. I could sleep til lunchtime no problem although i would then be 4 hours late for work.

Alarm set for 7:20. Actually get up at 8am. 4 times.

Why do most snooze functions last 9 mins?

I set mine for 5.10. Was awake at 4.55am To be honest the best alarm clock ive found doesnt use sound. Its a light based one. You set your time and it lights up gently and gets brighter until you turn it off. It works on the principal that waking up to a natural gradually increasing light tricks your body into thinking its waking up naturally and is not forced to wake up. Theres only really one downside to it and thats if you can sleep during the day in the sun then it doesnt really work
