Nail on the head with that, it could have been so much better.
It was ok, I bought it on DVD as I like these kind of films but the potential it had and the end product were miles apart.

Watching it the second time round I actually appreciated it more.
Its a pretty good and inventive piece of film making.
You either get absorbed in the intensity and enjoy it as a piece of entertainment or sit there picking holes and going on about how its unrealistic etc etc.
Like with the lost series its something with plenty of mystery and answered questions which i quite enjoy and its good to ponder. If everything was explained it would be boring and a lot of creativity would be lost in production if you tried the realism approach.
Also In the video phone/you tube world that we live in I think the style in which it is shot its quite apt

One dude says its a piece of satellite and that the company that owns the satellite go looking for it and wake up the monster deep in the sea.

Awesome. That has put a good spin on it. Kind of like war of the worlds when the aliens go down the lightning. I could see it on iPhone

The lead up to the release of the film was quite good as well, loads of trailers with secret hints to things.

I only knew to look out for it cos I'd looked up Cloverfield before hand to get an idea if it was worth watching and saw something about keeping an eye on the closing scene for an object falling in to the sea
