Should rev the pd's to just over 4k as thats where max power is.

You can get fabia vrs's for 5k, the early ibiza fr's are less than 5k too.

What about audi a4's?

Max power yeah, but not Max torque, by 'just over 4k' you are well off the torque curve!

It's possible to get a 100k+ mile (which is nothing) 330d sport for near his budget.

You'd get a reasonably high mileage Astra H CDTI for the budget. Get one with XP and it ticks all the boxes.

My remapped Ibiza FR TDi pulls right through the range too

I got that advise from my friend who has run the quickest 1/4mile times for a stage 1 then stage 3 pd130

I paid just over £5k for mine and its in fantastic condition, the engine runs sweet as a nut as well.

Well done here they were non-existent, especially when I was looking in February. They haven't gone down in price in over 18 months imho.
