I was surprised the other week when I drove an 07 plate Sprinter that didn't have a temp gauge, it was especially wierd when our old Sprinter did have one

a lot of modern vehicles dont need them really as the engines switch off if temp reaches a certain point anyway.

exactly my point! so is it for symetry or something? if the temp went too high the computer would cut the engine into limp mode anyway.

I'd still rather have one tbh. Twice now I've been made aware of thermostat issues by watching the temp gauge, without it I might not have known about either problem

I've told you, the mk4 gauge does work.
mine went up and my fans kicked in, once.

my fans kick in when im in traffic but the temp doesnt move at all, its pretend.
