Still not clear how you adjust them anyway. They don't click or have and discernable end stop on the rotation of the damper shaft.

When i had some the ends were very stiff couldnt move them until they were on the car. Then one snapped and had to be sent to gaz for repair. they dont click iirc they just spin but it will stop or get stiffer.

We've established that they're not as advertised.
When they're on the car, they'll be bolted on to the top mount though? Not sure how they would spin in this case.

Its like a shaft, within a shaft. Is there an allen key hole on the very top too?

the center bit always spins thats why youve gotta have an allen key to hold it steady when you tighten it up

There's no shaft within the shaft. The top is an 8mm head which accepts the adjuster knob thing but this spins the whole shaft.
When this is bolted down to the car, I can't really see it spinning.
The old ones had an allen key, this one has the bolt head for restraint. Also can't see how if you adjusted it off the car you would still hold it sound while you installed it because you can't have a spanner on the top of it while you windy the main bolt down.
Paid £800 and also got a stainless exhaust system including manifold.
I'm probably going to ask that he takes the suspension back off me and refunds half the money.

nah deffo adjusts on the car, deffo deffo, it may be that you need to take the top nut off though each time you want to adjust.
it might just be stiff hence it spinning the whole thing, try bolting one on and turning it

also you got a pic of your top mounts? it might be that you need the revised damping weights as the threads onthe shocks wont protrude enough to get the nut on the top, but these are only 6 quid each from ford can get you a part number if you need them

There's loads of thread visible when they're on the car.

you should be able to turn that knob, try putting a spanner on the neck and see if you can adjust it that way.

On my set of gaz that i had the little top bit where the adjuster nut goes on should spin within the threaded collar that you bolt to the bushes. If they have been adjusted too far they can be a bastard to get moving again. Id try to turn when the weight of the car is on them. They dont look like golds, but the seal on them does look like the ones used on golds (the blue bit) The threaded bit shouldnt spin when adjusting the rebound rate.
Hope this helps, just thought id add my 2 pence

Not sure where you got to but in fast Ford mag he claims they are gold coilovers so maybe more to it than appears.
