They seem to be advertised for between 16-19k for 05 plates with avg miles & good spec.

Might aswell start high eh!!

I know what its worth......what i'd take for it.

It would mean me switching the alloys back over to achieve this though which will take me a few weeks to get them ready.

Nope, no-where near that.

We've just traded our 06 plate in (early 06) with Sat Nav, 19"s for £6.5k (offered £2k more at another dealer, but shoddy deal). We think it'll go up for about £10k at a dealer.

And it was pretty spotless too bar some stonechips.

Moon miles?

and dodgy gear box

55,000 miles.

Got offered £8.5k for it, but as I say, the deal was awful.

No Oliver, we're not stupid, and your not in the know about any financials so please don't presume to. We wanted rid of the car, fast. Sooner it went, sooner we could get a hire car sorted. We had no car to use, and couldn't have a hire car sorted until the astra went. A whole package deal for a hire car until the S3 arrives was all sorted. Our situation meant it needed to go, and unlike yours, its Donnas work car, no car, no going to work. I know its a stupid price, but it doesn't effect us, so all is good for us.

The gearbox was on its way out., it had a few stonechips, but the car was spotless. I've got no doubt a dealer could sort the box and sell it for about £10k.

Privatly, i'd say they are only worth about £9k now. New astras out, new VXR will be coming, and theres so many special editions and such, a standard model isn't worth all that much.

How can you be offered £8.5k in a deal that is awful when you were selling to get a hire car?

Don't presume LET, you've not got a clue, and im not disclosing any reasons.

Its suited us perfectly, thats all that matters. We have got rid of a 4+ year old car, with a major component failure, and have a brand new car coming.

Thats all that matters.

You fucking northern trumpet.

Did you let the guy fuck your bird after he finished fucking your wallet? Did you pipe him off into the bargain?

Mugged.

So, I 'haven't got a clue' but you won't disclose reasons? Sounds to me like you realise you have been had sunshine.

VXR, serious question now. You say you have traded it in and are waiting on a new one? When does the new one come? I will come down, pound notes and give you more in CASH knowing the gearbox could go bang on the way home assuming it's as mint as you otherwise say.

EDIT: I haven't even seen it, don't know the colour or whatever but I know how to turn a quick few grand.

It's like the people who come away thinking they got a car for 15k when it's really costing them 30k on finance

I can point you in the direction of a gearbox as well for £450 and get Warren to fit it.

Daimo, you are either one of the biggest IDIOTS ever to grace the Internet or you are trolling.

My money is on the first TBH.

Probably tying into further finnance from the same company, without realising you are getting cut by both sides of the sword.

Man, I wish I could find customers like you, my bonus would go through the mother fucking roof.

Some folk dont care about losing a bit of money though.............theres ways to mentally absorb it!!

For example Daimo's VXR's only cost around 10k in 4yrs....2.5k a year to run a car. Thats not bad. Now if he pays £xxxx to fix the gearbox only to get £xxxx back, its just going to be a pain in the hoop.

Just write it off!! Which I suspect is what he's done.

Woop-de-fucking-do. I paid outright for a brand new car for my Mother last year on my bonus card, what's the point?

She wouldn't be daft enought to sell her £210k house for £140k though as the toilet doesn't flush properly.

Not even that Colin.

There was a time need as well. Time Vs Cost for us. Worked out better to get rid of sooner. But again, thats with Corsasport knowing all the presumptious fact.

@ Irony of LET and trolling. Still chuckling here

Also re: finance etc. I dont know his personal circumstances but supposing a couple clears 3-4k a month.............300 quid for a car isnt really a hardship.

You mean the facts that you won't divulge which you would if you could justify them without looking like a total fucking bellend as per the norm.

You say there is a fine line between arrogance and confidence or words to that affect? I swear I read that earlier? Ignorance would be the box I would put you in. I have personally never seen you as arrogant or confident, someone in either of those boxes would be able to back it up instead of sticking their fingers in their ears.

I suppose you are 'giving back' to the car scene though after the amount of money you helped to mug from people with all the 'PVD aren't going bust, I am sharking the accountant crap you spouted'.

I suppose its kind of poetic that you are getting mugged off now.
