I keep reading this thread as Crap Fishermen

My best is a 2lb trout. I don't fish. I caught 11 of them with a spinner in a loch in Scotland

I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.

i'm off to Pilsworth Fisheries at the weekend. there is a 37lb mirror in there that came out about a month ago and a few more low 30's. going for 48 hours so hopefully i'll smash my pb. got my new marker rod setup sorted last week which i've not tried out yet. i'll update this with pics if i bag up!

Shimano bait runners are the balls mate! £50 is cheap tho so I'd be wary.

Serious advice mate you're better off buying a better reel second hand as you'll always get your money back if it's not for you. Second hand gear is normally in top condition as fishermen look after their gear.

i have shimano bait runners and used them for years now, and they never given me a problem.

some of the daiwa ones are decent for that price range.

i find some of the cheaper shimanos feel a bit cheap and plasticy

Bait boats aren't cheating! How many times have you walked round a water and seen 20's hiding under low hanging branches and had no way to cast to them? I just laugh when I'm pulling them out for fun and other people are tangled in a tree. If I'm paying top prices to fish then I do whatever to make sure I catch.
