Its painted

Went for a standard ish colour, its lighter but basically i couldnt find the colour on the paint system at work so used a machine called a spectrometer which looks at the colour and uses a some kind of vodoo magic to look at it and find the closest match. The closest was a Merc colour but i decided to go a little lighter with this GM colour. Should look nice with the black wheels i hope.

Got the week off next week so may try get some bits fitted up, not gona have chance to get the stuff re-cromed or the interior died and carpets died. But will still be low and different which is my kind of thing

So here it is all masked up in the booth:

Put a black basecoat down to help with the coverage to use less paint:

Forgot to get some pics of when it was in green basecoat but here it is all lacquered up, has a few good coats on it so will block down easily and polish up very nicely:

What a quality project! Cant wait to see it on the BBS's!

Just one question, aside from saving on paint, does the black base coat darken the top coat much or has it no effect to the final colour?

It can darken it up on some colours but as this is a dark colour it won't affect it. I did only put a light grip coat then 1 full coat a a big drop coat and that's it so only used a litre for the whole car.

started to fit a few bits up, the lacquer has pulled in on a few places but should be ok and may need to blow in the front wings a bit where its reacted badly but that will be a later date job or if i have time.

bumpers will be going on this week and then springs next week, then install.

theres a few awesome c20let 1s about and a c20let 1 on piston heads too.

dont think id have the know how to do one justice though. but then again theyre only about 500-600 benk, worth the risk imo once me and the mrs get a house and garage

yeah the barn find one, was gona buy it with my brother, add to the collection, it went for far to cheap.

There so simple to work on and you cant really got wrong, big engines can be a bit or an arse as for the xe you need a manta gear box, different wing sump, different clutches. made some brackets for different things, new prop shaft, a uprated diff.

Just a few things, but thats why im gona be keeping the engine standard ish.

Hopefully gona do a few service bits at the weekend and then start to flat and polish, had a bad bit of shifiting in the paint on teh bonnet but will have to sort that out over the winter, will get the bonnet stripped right back or maybe dipped.

No normall springs and shocks. Will be alot better when it's on the adjustable shocks and lowered springs. But it's very boat like at the moment. The steering wheel is big but is kind of cool, been looking at small ones but duno if it would fit in with it.
