How can public non-protected data be leaked on the web? it's available to anyone.

That's like the yellow pages being "leaked" on the web.

we're talking phone numbers (which are available from directory enquiries), addresses (again available from DE), email addresses (which are publically shown on some peoples pages), amongst other things.

I think its dangerous to keep too much info on there (I dont put down much personal info), but that sort of data is worth millions to advertising companies.

yeah, some people have address details on FB and contact numbers etc which would be okay if it was a close circle of friends that were viewing that information. But most people keep even randomers on facebook that they don't talk to
