Mines has a cracked manifold. Really need to get it changed,cant imagine it doing any favours to the MPG.

ive got a 2litre sri as my daily runner, had a few probs so far such as cracked manifold, seats wont fold forward(common app on 3drs) my cat collapsed and now due to that my headgasket is on its way out.
fantastic car to drive though!

My brothers 2.2 has the same problem with the drivers seat not folding forward.

Also,in what way has the cat collapsing affected the HG??

jeezo im on my 2nd mk4 astra and both have been spot on, had my first one when I was younger and rove it like a fud, it took punishment well. this one I drive like an old granny and its been spot on too. dad had a mk4 and it went on to do 140k before anything went wrong with it

The drivers seat on my Corsa doesn't fd forward either, it's not an astra fault it's a faux fault

heater resistor packs are very common aswell. easy fix but bit awkward to get to

it would start but wouldnt rev, due to fact exhaust gases couldnt escape its put pressure in engine, low down revs it leaks water onto the spark plugs causing a miss fire and low revs and the temp light and fan come on quite alot! it doesnt overheat as such yet but its being done tomorrow before it gets any worse.

Ive got the 2.0DTi SXi Mk4, only thing thats gone wrong with it chassis / body wise is one of the front springs has, and still is, broken. Not bad for 2 years of ownership and no service history when I bought it, its a Y plate on 89k
