The 2 cars in question (thanks to Adam who I think took the pic)
Thank you very much for the postive comments about the car
I believe the owner was driving (as I saw him in it just before we went out). He was slow to start with (caught him up fairly quickly) but once I went past him (in the above pic) he then clung to the back of me for while (he had a slight straightline advantage and he defo made time up on the entry to the corners) But watching in my rear view mirror I don't think he knew the track very well as his lines we're different to mine on the exit and I was putting distance on him.
Later on in the day I did clock his car at 1 min 20.9sec (My pb was 1min 23.2) (For reference I clocked the 2 REYLAND cars at 1min 18secs a few years back).
I honestly only think I was quicker because I know the circuit and it seemed he didn't early on as he got quicker & quicker.
As for the comments about my car being well setup..... Its covered in WHITELINE products, and for all those doubters, they really do work!!!
Thanks again.
Neil

Yeah sounds about what i'd expected the car to do...regardless of Oli (DHDev) opinions .. also puts it closer to the times the REYLAND boys were doing.
Someone told me that Cleland was doing 1min 16sec in the Cav? Did anyone else time it?

I have no doubt Bo could do 1:15's. Looking at other race series laptimes - 300bhp Imprezas are doing 1:14 / 1:15. Bo is normally about 1sec behing 500bhp Imprezas for example.

isnt bo's car massively spec'd in comparison to neils?
multi pot brakes, track specific suspension, full weld in cage to stiffen it up, 30+++ more horsepower?

Not saying he couldn't but 3 secs is a LOT of time to make up on a lap time thats barely over 1 minute is it not? And the cars not what you'd call big power. His top speed through the follow thru was 128 from that graph. I was getting an indicated 125. Your skyline for example i'd expect to be at least 10-15mph quicker still?
Having said all that... He was clearly getting quicker and quicker as mentioned previously. But he did do a lot of sessions.
For reference on one of the last sessions near the end of the day, two of the Thorney green / black Astra's were doing very consistant 1 min 20secs (what race series are they in?)

Just going by times OFFICIALLY set by other cars that I know are slower than Bo (normally). They may know the track very well for example - but that doesnt mean the time is impossible for Bo's VXR 1:15 is def possible without a shadow of a doubt.
And also - as you said - 3secs is a BIG difference on track. Never mind him being 5secs a lap quicker than you on the day (I know it wasnt you that said he was completley powned or however you say it)
I just find it funny that folk make assumptions that cars are always going 100% on public trackdays. There is night and day to the level of commitment Fee and I (cant comment on Bo) put in when doing a timeattack round. No doubt you'd find a few seconds when on Max Attack too
But safe to say - as the two cars are just now (No use with if's and but's as thats not how this post started) Bo's astra would have destroyed the Coupe - if it was going for it -

Totally agree! on paper the cars are worlds apart! Mine is just a road car, no diff, no cage, no ££££ suspension setup and semi slick tyres etc. It would (and did) destroy mine.
As I said earlier, I believe it was probably down to track experience on that session... or a different driver... or the passenger telling him to slow down It doesn't really matter. I had fun and so did some watching by the sounds of it.

If this is the case, i'll cut off my cock.
Even if Neil was driving the wheels off the coupe, its "just" a well set up road car from what i can see. Can't believe it could get anywhere near Bo. This is a class winning TA car remember, its tried and tested. Bo must have been having a chilled out lap or something?!

Seems I was right yet again If your times are correct Neil, the Reyland boys need to pull their fingers out 1min16 1.8 8v Pug on road tyres and 1min15 Vaux Astra 2.0l
As I said via text, you need to re-calibrate your idea of fast and get your ass racing, and I don't mean traffic light grand prix's! Get your corsa done and get in the Dunlop championship!

Do you understand the concept of IMO?
As I said IMO and as far as I can the tell the half dozen people I was with it looked like they were both pushing it. Perhaps he was having a chilled session but it didn't appear that way
