Well I've by really done much over the summer as I was kitting out the living area of my dads horse truck.
Finally got the fold out side on mine, along with the rubber seal along the top. Also ground back some rust on the drivers door and slapped some oxide primer on it for now.
Change the design as well now. There will be no stage area as shown in the google sketchup, now the bar will fold out and staff will be stood on the ground. Will do a drawing later.

Trimmed back down. Ally over right side and bottom. Managed to break about 4 drill bits so cut door hole out instead.
Pissed it down all morning too. Fuming weather!

still need to put the rest of the trim round the back and sort the warping out but that shouldn't be too hard

Winch fitted
Temp hole for wire
Fixing point welded on
Decided to mount bar frame to the side instead of the top of the bed. Bracket welded on (same both sides)
Frame cut down, bolted in place and winched up to make sure it sits inside ok
Made this...
So cable clears where the bar top will sit
Clamped a fount on
LIfted bar up to check clearance. About 2-3" of space left. Winner!
More updates next week kids. Think ill get the bar top and get it fixed in place.

Assuming it will still be a commercial vehicle as you are going to make money from it are you going to be able to get that old truck through its saftey checks? Or are you going to swap the body onto another chassis cab?

The truck is is really good nice structurally and mechanicly. Just cosmetic shit on the cab really.
Will be reclassified as a specilized vehicle in the next couple of weeks.
Currently a specilized vehicle does not need an MOT but will have it all checked over and sorted anyway for my own piece of mind.
Will also be asking DVLA about licences etc when i go over to reclassify as Ian thinks i'll need an O licence but others dont. The DVLA should be able to tell me exactly what the score is.

No MOT but the alternative is a ballache! Saftey records and Opperators License you'll also have to get it plated which is a nightmare.

From what i can find on legislation sites i see no mention of an O licence etc.
Classing as a Showmans HGV seems to be an option too, maybe

Vehicles with "fixed" equipment
Schedule 3 to the Goods Vehicles (Licensing of Operators) Regulations 1995, lists the categories of goods vehicle that are exempt from operator licensing. Schedule 3 (15) (a) prescribes that the following type of vehicle is exempt:
A vehicle fitted with a machine, appliance, apparatus or other contrivance which is a permanent or essentially permanent fixture, provided that the only goods carried on the vehicle are -
(a) required for use in connection with the machine, appliance, apparatus or contrivance or the running of the vehicle;”
Sounds about right for mine.

After a bit more looking, ive found that if my truck does need a O licence its only 3k, instead of 6, which is a winner!
