its the textured plastics im on about, not sure if its even the same type of plastic thats moulded for colour coded bumpers

seems a lot softer, can dig your finger nail into the the textured stuff whereas the bumpers that are colour coded are hard and kind of non porous

I'm sorry? Have you read a word of what Tom has said? If the paint is pealing regardless of the texture of the plastic you are doing it wrong.

toms point about gsi arches etc, theres no reason why they cant be painted as they havent been exposed to cleaning chemicals and moisture, why do you think grey arches appear black when you heat them? because they have moisture trapped in them

So get rid of all the moisture and cleaning residue and key it up, why shouldn't the paint stick?

Steve when it comes to the basics you can really be a halfwit sometimes

I used to cover my Punto GT sideskirts in back to black and all manner of silicon based shit, same goes for Rachels Corsa B on the arches.

Both of them eventually got colour-coded by S&T Coachworks who removed the texture and sprayed the arches and skirts and they never cracked or looked shit because they done the correction preperation.
