Good lad finally someone that agree's. Just because it has a turbo doesn't mean its fast. overrated imo.

The mk4 gti was without a doubt the worst Golf GTI, I wouldn't say they are overrated at all.
But with a remap there is definitely usable power.

My mates went well with a Stage 1 map but I wouldn't rave about it. Decent amount of car for the money I guess

Yes, AUQ engines came with 180 from factory (same engine config as in octavia VRS, leon cupra and 25th anni golf) will remap to just over 200.

Latish AUM engines came with 150 bhp but with the turbo from the 180's so will map to the same as an AUQ.

My anni was running 204bhp and 225 lb/ft. When rolling there was nothing in it (in a straight line) between me and mates R32 or standard S3 due to the weight diffs from having haldex system. Standing start they'll do you though.

agu was up to 2000ish, then it swapped to the aum. i have a 1999 agu which is more than comfortable on the motorway. ok they are not the fastest cars on the road but they are more than capabable of keeping up with speed limits and everyday driving as i am guessing that is what u are using it for.

AGU's a re what people usually go for when they are going for big power/big turbo as i believe the head has larger ports. They come with a K03 turbo which will see 180-190 after a map.

AUM and AUQ's came with a K03s which give slightly more bhp.

which ever you go for make sure the water pump/cambelt has been one at somepoint as they had plastic impellors which were prone to failing

Why ask the question if you know the answer?!

I had a 1.8t with a pipercross vis air filter, blueflame exhaust and a decat and I'd be surprised if it was over 200 horses. Was hellaslow too.

Genuine replacements are normally plastic. Not a major issue as they'll do 60k anyway
