Aye about 155bhp instead of 125bhp.
Cams, manifolds etc are different. In the Puma they still arent all that quick.60 in high 7s.
Been looking at Puma's as of late,just the 1.7 VCT.Quite fancy 1.

Correct me if im wrong but the frp is a puma engine, apart from the frp spec its pretty much the same engine as any other 1.7 puma and i cant see a fiesta with one take any clio sports.
Any clio below the 2.0 is a girls car.
Dunno like,id have a clean Williams3 or a Valver.

Aye thats what a mean by the same engine as the other 1.7s but with more tweaks and im sure i seen a post refently from another puma owner saying the frp wasnt that much quicker than the non frp.

Williams3 is a good shout, more than that for a decent one though, no?
A 172 over a valver any day of the week, a car with a 2.0 that is meant to be there and set up to handle accordingly, I also prefer the look of the ph1, I like later models but not as much.

Not sure what they go for Danny. My comment was in reply to Scott saying anything under a 2.0 is for girls but ive just realised the Williams had a 2.0 anyway.
Not sure what u mean with your 2nd comment tho??I was refering to a Mk1 valver clio.

I think Danny thought you meant a Corsa. A Williams 3 could be had for that price, a W1 cannot. Would rather the 1!

frp would easily stay with a 172 if not beat, on a track anyway, better handling, better brakes, LSD, might drop back a bit on the straights however 10bhp or whatever real world figure advantage the clio has wont make much difference

TBH Eck,they seem to be going for around the same price after a quick squint on PH.The 3s are going for more as they tend to be cleaner/newer with less miles.

You should also be able to pickup a 206gti for 3k,
2.0 16v 130bhp, i'm getting about 35mph average but much more on a run,
and it'll have all the toys, auto headlights, auto windscreen wipers, climate control.
worth considering mate

Why would you get a 206gti for that when you can get a faster, equivalently specced 172 for the same?

The interior is much better in a 206 GTi to start with and they look miles better, I loved my old one, And faster? Not really.
I'm not bias at all but i think i would rather a 206 GTi day to day than a 172 Cup

It's a lot slower but I'd go for the mk5 z-s.

Interior's aren't much different, looks are matter of opinion again, I hate clio's and it still looks better.
I wasn't thinking about cup, was thinking about a normal spec one, can't see the point in the cup unless you only use it on track.

Are the Clio Cups track designed cars??Whats the major differences that make them more suitable for track??Fancy suspension/bigger brakes and alot less weight??

Fancy suspension and all the bits that make them bareable removed.
No difference in the real world, probably negligible difference on track, you get crap seats and no xenons as well as the other pitfalls of clio ownership.

i'd go for the 172. mk5 zs' are slow. good handling cars but then so are clio's so it's an easy choice imo.
