FUCK, just realised that is probably gonna mean I will be in about 20k of debt when I leave (depending on any summer work I can find)

maths isn't your strong point i see?

3x4 = £12k.
4+3 = £7.

£19000.

but is 4k living per year? how could you survive on 4k over 3 years?

4k loan a year, 3k fees a year, which is 7k, over 3 years, 21k, would be about 30 if I was paying for accommodation myself

I wouldn't mind apart from the fact that 99% of them piss it up the wall. I've got 2 cousins doing it now. Out most nights getting completely smashed then go on facebook moaning about money. Idiots.

Quite few people move "close to uni" when they could live at their parents house and commute few days a week.

Take me for an example:

Doing a degree at uni
Live 28 miles away from campus.
Uni is 3 days a week
work 3 days a week - 24 hours
Not get a penny from parents but save on rent and food

get no loan and can afford to run my own car socialise etc. yet get enough time to do uni work etc.

Also work full time over summer and xmas hollidays.

I got a statement from the Student Loan Company the other day, I owe £18.7k apparently! Doesn't particuarly bother me though, it was my choice to go to uni.

I didn't work during uni but worked full time during the summer, I didn't feel as if I had enough time to work and get all my uni work done....

My loan amount didn't even cover my accomodation to be honest, I was just glad my parents were able to help out, added to the money earnt over the summer allowed me to get by... I didn't have a car at all during uni though...

Or £17k + commission marketing jobs

My degree hasn't got me any further in life and I'm about £18k in debt all in I reckon.

What will be will be, I just see it is another tax and look at my net pay at the end of the day, so doesn't really bother me.

Well when you see the degrees some people do, you really do have to ask yourself what the point is...

I mean my loan is probably higher than others, as I spent 5 years there, I even had to pay when I was on placement and not strictly at uni! But my degree has allowed me to get into a decent Engineering job, so its all good....

I think your looking at one or two and not the majority.

People immiediatly say this to me cause i have the S2k, bmw etc... but i worked for 3 years before going. And still have to work now pretty much whenever i can to be able to carry on with what i was doing.

The loan it's self really doesn't cover much at all. For example, if your doing a placement that is 100 miles away, and you have to be there 5 days a week. Then BnB 30 a night, food 10 - 15 a day, petrol etc it all adds up and you can't work your normal job and earn in this time either.

For my placement it costs me nearly 250 a week to go there, i get 970 pounds student loan every 3 months, and a 700 pound grant every three months, so what am i left with..... Very little spare.

Some are lucky, a lot of people that I went to school with are back in their retail jobs though after coming out of uni!

I love not owing a penny to anyone now

Marketing/Business degrees are pointless, you'll get further on the aldder by working for those 3 years (IMO of course) but by the same respect, there are courses without which you wouldn't get into particular industries. I wouldn't be doing what I'm doing now, earning what I am without my degree.

I agree with Lee here, 3/4 years experience is far better in some field, Marketing (debateable in some aspects), IT for example.
