Awesome, is it easier to add ram now or is it easy enough anytime? I have noticed iTunes not playing music as smoothly as it used to.

If you've already got 4GB, you probably (not definitely of course) have 4 1GB modules.
To upgrade you'll be replacing instead of adding, meaning it'll cost more.
It is easy though.
Also, that won't be causing iTunes to run slow.

James, are you sure your current hard drive is ok?
It worries me why it's taking so long to shut down.
It could be something simple like being stuck in an update loop.
But then it could be the sign of hardware failure.

Right:
Two things:
1. Mine is a Dell machine, is this likely to cause a problem?
2. I am not 100% sure i have driver discs for things. I have basicly a tower, keyboard mouse (wireless) and a set of speakers. What do i need to do?

No need to do any of that Jambo,
disk in, press F12 when you first turn it on a few times, select the CD/DVD drive option, wait for the installer to load then follow the on screen instructions.
Delete ALL the hard drive partitions and then just press enter when "unpartitioned space" apprears

I love 7 makes you realise how utterly shit vista was and how old XP feels when you use it again.
