Apart from being stupid doing it, if you can get the vin and the tax code off it without being caught, just make up a signature, I don't think they actually check them, I've had other people sign my name before and I'm almost sure I've signed somebody elses.

I'd say you are screwed, the plate belongs to the car not you, he owns the car now so therefore he owns the plate, bad times.

wouldnt that mean in theory the new owner is unaware which results to a corsa and possibly seans s14 (when he gets one) having the same plate?

Possibly, the current owner should get a letter though, it would all be very dodgy.

ask him nicely once more.

you know where he lives, which is where the car will be.

get some dodgy mates and go and see him. if he still won't co-operate, leave it a couple of weeks then do his car in.

i know that's childish but it's a lot harder to prove someone keyed your car and slashed your tyres then assaulting someone.

When I got the Golf, we filled in a form from DVLA (can't recall exact form can find out)

I kept both V5's
I kept both MOT's

Handed them in to DVLA office with £80

2 days later we got new MOT, V5 and TAX disc!

You've got to fully trust the person or take your plate off prior to sale!

Stupid letting car go without if you don't fully trust them!

Bye bye plate!

What you're forgetting is that the guy (probably) knows where Sean lives as well. So he might go round a key his motor, but that guy might come round to his and pour petrol through the letterbox. He'd need to be sure the guy's not going to be harder than him so to speak.

I always put mine on retention as soon as ive decided to sell the car.

You will need the MOT and the V5 to get it off also.
