strandar gsi/sport no chance.. my mate has a saxo vts and when my gsi was standard he would pull but not massivly.. after a 4 branch slite head work and inlet id do past him easy..
iv also had 2.0s and if you have an healthy engine 106s/vts dont stand a chance in straight line as i know plently of people with them and have raced them

but dont get me wrong round twisties they are a better car (gti/vts)
ill also be honest and say i never raced one that was cammed so i wouldnt know about that

Dont think the 106 is standard though.Deffo spied a GrpN exhaust.

Along the Prom it'll certainly be close. 106's/VTS's get off the line FAR easier

It was mostly from rolling starts. Both seemed to be going for it pretty much same time, but the 106 looked to be ahead of the game all the time.

I dare say it isn't standard then! It doesn't take much (decat system, 4-2-1 manifold and decent induction kit) to take them not far off 140bhp, which would then beat an XE.

With a 4 branch and inlet you past them easily?

With a 1.6 sport with two buckets and nothing in the back rolling roaded at 126bhp straight line everytime gti's/vts's would pull away.

When i got a VTS later the exact same happened, i would pull from 1.6 sports extremely easily, and XE's were level most the way to 100+

I've owned both, XE is quicker that a standard GTi but you would expect it to be with an extra 30bhp and more torque

Yep, my 106 was 100% standard and although it was quick it wasn't as quick as my XE. As others as said though a few breathing mods and it would be quicker than an XE.

Gutted I sold mine

vts's are so under-rated. I have a clio 172 and my mates old one kept with me until 80mph.

all depends whats been done to engine ect. my mate had a 106 and aparrently it made 160 on a rolling road. if both the 1.6 106 and the XE engines are standard, i recon they will be arund the same to bout 50 then the xe will leave it.

Throttlebodied GTI Vs Nova C20XE (Corsa will be slightly slower because of the weight)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dovCT-7aXJM

Clio sport Vs XE Corsa (clio is faster than a VTS/GTI)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-jmdXPMADng

And regarding straight line speed, show me a VTS/GTI that can do 14s...

My mates old one. Ran 14.6s. My old 106 Gti with breathing mods couldn't be overtaken by a mates xe corner. If he was in front yeah he would pull away but if i was infront i stayed infront.
