Your best option is to get your concrete floor powerfloated - brilliantly smooth surface which you can leave plain grey or get painted if you like.

Not desperately expensive either, since it's just a type of finish on the concrete you are pouring anyway.

It's what they put down in a lot of car showrooms, aircraft hangars etc. Incrediable how smooth you can make regular concrete!

mate just buy some cheap paint from b&q. mine was just bare concrete floor with oil stains all over it and breeze block walls and a little bit of paint later looks so much cleaner.

Adam this may be of help. It's a copy of a post I made on aoc some time ago. Although there are not any finished pictures I have fitted a rubber stud tile floor to my garage. I have had my car on axle stands and jacks for periods of time and the floor takes it no problem.
I was meant to do this a year and half ago, but it got finished, then got filled with a car for a while then junk and I never got finished pictures (dumb ass!). However as I need to get the garage empty for next weekend, this may give me some motivation (fact chance!).

So this is the process of the my garage floor:

The garage floor after 50 years of dirt, oil, paint, whatever on it:

The back passage to the garden, basically paving slabs on a mixture of sand, cement, soil, and god knows what. This area was done purely for me to test a couple of products in extreme temperature and moisture content area:

This then needed to be scarified, and sanded to get rid of the years of residue:

Once Sanded, it needs a good clean just to make sure all the oil, grease and residues that could cause the floor finish to not adhere to the floor:

The back passage had large holes that needed to be filled before any work could commence, for this I used Rapid repair mortar. Its very hard and sticks like shit to a blanket :

Once dried the entire area is vacuumed several times to ensure all dust is removed:

Once we were happy the floor was clean, we damp proofed the floors, garage floors of this age will not have any kind of DPM under them, and the paving slabs dont have them full stop. I use an epoxy resin compound that will block 99.7% moisture:

Two coats are applied making sure that not even a pin hole is left:

Once its cured, a primer is applied to ensure further coverings will adhere to the rubberised surface:

Once cured, its ready for the base coat of cement screed, in this case a very heavy duty screed cement at a minimum of 8mm thickness, as the weight of a car will be sitting on it:

This is as far as I got picture wise, I will clear the garage out and show you the finished flooring fitted.
If you need any info at all give me a shout, this is what I do for a living

Only thing about these ruber tiles - imagine you spilled a large amount of oil between two tiles, it would be a total pain in the arse to clean up.

Why not polished and treated concrete? If you have it polished just as its going off it comes out amazing! And will be far cheaper and much more durable than any tiles.
