but seriously, even driving like a granny doing 60mph in 6th on the m25 during airport runs i could only get a max of 30mpg.
around town you're looking at 18-20mpg and granny town driving you will be getting around 22-24mpg.
they really aren't built for fuel economy

Think the Golf might have to get sidelined for a bit so the 350 can come out to play

Octavia VRS 2.0 tfsi or if you can get one a 2.0 tsi, the Mk 2 octavia handles really well as its based on the mk4/mk5 golf GTI.
Golf GTI
Mk2 leon cupra or Mk5 Ibiza FR/Cupra/boc
all will do over 35pmg insurance isnt bad on them aswell.

dont like clio's (other than the v6) im afraid never have and doubt i ever well.
golf is ok but when i test drove the r32 was never really sold on the interiors/feel.
leon/ibiza = seat = i have the mk4 ibiza which has put me of seats altogether plus my mum has the mk2 leon fr so couldnt get the same.

How the hell can't you like bmw interior?
Fair enough the newer ones are pretty boring, I think they peaked on the e46...
