For what it's worth I don't rate Pique either. Made to look good by playing in a good Barca and Spain team.

puyol, terry, vidic, ferdinand, lucio vermalen mexes all better and probably more than that in my opinion and yeh maybe they lost out on the money side but he wouldnt have stopped to stay on the bench and only play through injuries to rio and vidic then his contract runs out and he goes for only compo

You could have a case for most of them but Vermaelan and Mexes are not better than Pique by a long shot.
Mainly due to the fact Pique is a 23 year old centre half that has played for Man United, Barcelona, won the Champions League, the European Championship and the World Cup whilst having 30 caps and being a mainstay of the team that did all 3.

ye maybe in the long run he will be better n ok maybe not mexes but vermalen on his day when fit in a team with the midfield barca have would be better imo and were on about them selling him and like i said he wont play second fiddle at utd if barca are interested so do they leave him to rott on the bench until his contract runs out or get what money they can for him ?

At the time, Vidic and Rio were both not broken, he was young an inexperienced, was never going to get a decent run in the side.
Now however, he is probably the most composed and well rounded defender in Europe. He's good enough to play upfront for Barca when they are desperate for a goal, how many times is Puyol sent up to steal a winner? How many times have you seen defenders do this, past Inter Milan..

A out and out defender doesnt need to be classed as good upfront it means when someone is running at you, challenging you in the air/ on the floor with strength etc you come out on top and read the game well would you put pique as the worlds number one defender then ?

also if your going for goals stats im not sayin vermealen is the best in the world at all but your after goals
pique 67 games for barca 4 goals
vermealen 36 games at arsenal who dont score as many as barca and hes got 7 goals
