I've owned a 106 GTi, and as JM_16v says, it is probably the best drivers car I have ever driven in my life.

I really want one back in my life now, and would have one over my Leon Cupra R any day.

because it needs a new flexipipe, tyres, and has a leak coming through the rear door, so need to fix them first and don't have the cash....

I owned a GTi for 6 months this year and was honestly the most reliable and cheapest to run car i have had in a long time. Was such a nice car to drive and felt perfect and also looked the part. Would definetly recommend them to anybody, think the reliability issues start when they get ragged about.

Mine was fine, just went through 2 gearboxes and 3 clutches, apart from that it was fine.. but I think it's how its driven to be fair.. it did get a thrashing pretty much everywhere.. the pugsport sounded beaut on it!

Not a big lover of Renaults, 3 years of working on them puts me off a little.

if your thinking of getting a gti, you might aswel get a clio sport. Around the same price and the clio is a better car.

16v s2 Rallye would go for more than a GTI, quite a bit more, although 8v's hold their money really well, interior isnt as nice either.

it may handle better and be about as quick, but they just feel like you are driving in the foil piece of a kitkat wrapper with some wheels blu tacked on. corsa feels way safer car and feels, not joking, built much much better.

its not a step back at all though. they are good cars. just not my kinda thing. id rather have a head on collision in a sleeping bag.
