What happens in an impreza or any 4x4 putting the power down round a corner = understeer, RWD = oversteer...you want oversteer as you just point the front wheels the way you want to go.

understeer? dont get any problems at all with understeer, so much grip with an impreza it is unreal, you can literally drive into corners at a ridiculous speed , still get on the power and it just sticks to the road, couldnt do that in an M3 , round backroad blasts the subaru will be a more agile car.

so the handling is good.... as in it goes round corners very well , grip pays a good part in handling i would say. do love M3's though, used to be one of those nice yellow ones (dakori or whatever it is) round local to me and i remember it doing some doughnuts at a local cruise and it looked and sounded fab

Barndoor read a car mag. Not doubting the Scoodies grip, which will obviously be better than a car with 50% less driven wheels.
Drivers car stem from the feel/interaction/feedback and most important balance and poise.

Yeah I'll have to get involved here

Beemer definately handles better and is more rewarding than a scooby! Scoobys have amazing grip but don't handle well
as standard. Will have to drive an M3 to test the performance methinks.

What's the car in question Adam??

Get one mate you will not be dissapointed!

A 320BHP N/A car is a whole lot different from a 320BHP Turbo.

If driven properly id say they handle just as well as a scooby/evo, the grip for a RWD is immense and the M3 is a legendary Classic!

They maybe dont "look" quick but they are.The power is just constant pull all the way in every gear.Launch it hard off the line and bang your way up the gears and it will put a smile on your face. And the noise while doing the above is just as entertaining.

An M3 will have no problem keeping with a Scooby/evo with the same power. Unless its a standing start. Probably one of the most under-estimated cars imo, everyone mocks them saying how bland they are etc, imo the only folk that say this is Scooby/evo owners that have had no experience with the M3.

And depending on the driving style the M3 can be much more fun!

Nothing better than coming out of a bend and putting the power down and feeling the rear smoothly sliding out.

As Fad said, go for a post 97 for the later 3.2 engine. Double Vanos will be expensive if it needs replaced, but there are people on the m3 forums who can repair it for less than half the price of replacement parts. If it's been looked after, you should be reet. So want one too! I'd have one before an Impreza (even though I love them). As said above, there is a difference between phenomenal levels of grip, and outright handling. When driving my dad's Impreza, it feels like it wants to run wide when giving it some coming out of a bend.

I also don't like the way power is delivered in turbocharged cars. It's not as instand as N/A, and the turbo seems to stifle noise (obviously an exhaust will help).

Besides, there's something special about M cars that seperate them from any other. But I point blank refuse to call it an ///M

Yeah i'm looking for something new BUT the wife is telling me i can't live without a scooby!

I'll win her around just need to get the money together now! Does anyone know if my Audi A4 would be worth anything as spares for someone? I'll refurb the 18's and get a few quid for them and stick some standard jobbies on.
