makes a lot of sense....

Get it handling well (susp, brakes & tyres) before upping the power (and upping the unreliability )

Inlet makes the car basically what it should have been in the first place so nothing bad there.

weight....

Make it a lot lighter (at the front) rather than power....

but reading between the lines it'll be used on roads too? Does that mean lexan windows, GRP panels/wings etc are ruled out?

Yeah man not going to silly with it, maybe a light weight bonnet as current one is a touch rusty.

125bhp and around 850kg is a nice round figure to aim for IMO.

Oh dear Olli.

Mine was pretty handy as a small block.
It can be done cheapish having a small block track carish.

If I was doing i again I would still go small block. And I would still do the same things I done.

Not the best if Im being honest. I would have changed to coilovers if I had the chance and money.

It was totally polybushed everywhere
Whiteline rear arb
Apex front shocks and 40mm springs
Apex rear shocks and I think 300lb rear springs lowered about 90mm
Obviously the cage stiffened it up shit loads.

So it was softish front, very stiff rear. Which I liked. None or little understeer, oversteery if you wanted to induce it. But quite nuturally balanced.

You know what I mean.

Coilsprings are where he sourced all his springs from though and they would be able to make them for you to your spec. I just used him as somebody to get them to a spec he suggested and they worked great.

So at least he got one thing right.

It's exactly what I am doing at the moment but I need mine for road rallying (12 car navigational stuff) and aldintrack stuff so what I'm doing is updated shocks and -40mm springs. 15's with good all round tyres.

Stripping it right down withtwo buckets, harnesses and a half cage, strut braces. And then going to remove the aircon as it's s huge part I just font need and then will make it alot easier to work in the engine bay. Am also thinking bout removing the power steering but not sure bout that yet.

I have a 1.6 in mine.

Also will have fiberglass bonnet and boot eventually as mine are rusty.

Mine was 125.2 bhp and 840kgs. Works out at 150 bhp/ton, so not too shabby. It was very fun to drive and very nippy. My problem was that it just did not handle well and it really put me off the car.

So i'd say, get the sus and brakes done 1st, then look at the powar!

If you go for the plastic windows and Fiber Glass bonnet and boot, it should make it under 800kgs.
