I always use lukewarm water, though a couple of years ago when I had my Renault 19 shitter I tried boiling water in an attempt to crack the windscreen, but it held firm

Use cold water?
If it moves, it's warmer than ice?

I have used cold water on my windscreens and have never had an issue. You just need a decent amount else it will refreeze, as i saw a woman attempt yesterday
Pour lots on and a quick burst of the wipers to get it off before it can freeze again.

Didnt read all the other replies but it saves me ££'s every winter
Ive got a 5l screen wash (neat) in the boot so when i spray the windows to clean them it doesnt freeze. Is very green though
I keep a 5l next to the front door inside as last year i left it in the car and it froze

Need to watch there, think it corrodes the wiper blades if it's too neat.

Few years ago I stopped to wash my headlights on the corsa as I could hardly see
Put the hose on them and a nice crack formed across each one, mustve been hot /warm and the ice cold water cracked them with shock. Was a good excuse for depo's though

Have heard about that but i only run it neat for the very few days its this cold, "down south" it only drops to -8 and thats only for about 3 weeks out of every year
The amount of girls in work that moan because there washers dont work but when questioned they dont know what screenwash is

I have a coffee with my breakfast, get in the shower, get dressed then pour the now colded water from the kettle over it.
But found that a pain in the arse walking back to the house with the kettle, so now I go out after the shower, and leave it ticking over with the heater on, and go back in and get dressed.

If you are using cold water from the tap outside it isn't really cold, if it was cold the tap would be frozen.

I just startup the car, lock up with the spare get in the shower, get dressed, come down and drive off.
Im sure is some offence code which is leaving a car running with no one sitting in it.
Also hot water will freeze quicker than cold.

Rather you than me in Liverpool
I start it up, heated rear screen on, blowers on front screen, and i scrape ice off side windows with a CD case, then do the front, rear does its self enough. Drive away, simple.

Key in, engine start, rear screen demister on, windows down, scrape just enough off the front screen, coat on, drive off, wait till engine temp, heaters on
