I wish Danny but no not possible. Ive looked into bedsits / studios, they come in around £350 a month including Council tax and water, some have WIFI (I have a phone with Data so not a problem if I dont have that) some even include electric, yea nothing perfect but it isnt something Ive got to look after because I dont own it, and Ive lived in shitholes before as a student so it wouldnt really bother me too much.

edit - Whittie yea I could look into 'bulk booking' a hotel and seeing what deals they could give me, but I doubt I will get it £400 a month for hotel, then there is food in the evening on top of that as well, so it doesnt work out feasibly, if I had a rented apartment or something along those lines I will have cooking facilities, infinitely cheaper than eating out

I was just thinking if anyone round here had rooms for rent Danny you would still have a commute but on 40-50 miles of dual carraige way/mway would still work out cheaper that way

Would depend on the monthly cost of the room but I could stomach a bit of diesel for less renting, I fucking hate renting, dead money all the way

No chance mate, going from fresh homecooked food every night you will not see me using a microwave as a means of cooking for myself every night

If needs must of course I would, but for my own health I really would rather not (I would get one of those plug in hobs over a microwave)

I couldn't do it Danny, being away from the misses like that. Especially if we were living together and to be married.

I've always said my happiness is more important to me than money & job - hence why I don't work in London on a shit train/tube commute, instead opting for a lower salary and 20 minute commute 1 way.

The only option I can see is renting your house out and breaking even, then your misses move with you and you rent. You'd have more disposable income, be together and have the career.

Deano its going to be 6-12 months to find out if I / we want to make a stab of living down there, if not move back and use the experience to effectively give myself a nice parse up here. Bit of a slog in the short term for long term gain...

Me? Life's fine thanks.

If it's only for a short period then good - but I don't see how 6-12 months will make a difference in being able to get the shame job back in Lincolnshire.

Commuting is wank, I did it for five years and I fucking hate London, haven't been back into town for about 6 months now and don't plan to go back until NYE

staying away from your other half will probably end up destroying the relationship

Are you working in London or the outskirts?

From January we are planning on renting a room out in our house on a Monday to Friday basis. We live 1 mile away from a station on the fast line to Paddington; it's about 30 mins journey.

Bloke I worked with block booked the local B&B. It was £25 a night iirc, but he said instead of bulk discount give me dinner. They were happy with that and meant he wasn't forking out for restaurants or takeaways everynight. Also used to usually get the same room so felt a touch more homely although still living out a suitcase.

I have just googled it and it estimated 47 minutes including traffic. They must take an average on the traffic I suppose.

Would be feasible, id rather 'live' in a nicer area further away than have to hitchhike to work cos some c-unit has made off with my wheels etc. M25 pop? What Daily mileage is 47 minutes?

Think about the strain it might cause on your relationship, future benefits could end up meaning nothing.

Yeah, look at Jade. She's not happy about Colin being on the rigs and is forced to post on a Corsa forum in her spare time. . .

We've done this before for 3 years while I was at university, if it ended up looking like it was going to.be a long term job we have already said we would start looking to make a more permanent shared base down there so I don't really see the issue...and anyway we have spoken about it in depth and planned for lots of eventualities already, I haven't even applied for the job yet, let alone got it regardless
