yes i wasted 6 months, better then wasting 3 years. Im guilty of that.
As for taking places, there were plenty of places available, hardly any competition and the classes were hardly full and poorly run, part of the reason i left.

I think this statement is entirely untrue but i can understand the misconception. I see it first had atm, people getting there loans pissing it up the wall then living off pot noodles for the rest of the term. There was also a point but getting 2:2 etc and stuff and wasting all this money. I have 2 exams on monday and tuesday and these are topics that are extremely difficult to understand and learn and i had some people come around my house asking for help and they have not even done there revision. But i see what you mean.

i work pretty much full time alongside my degree and the only thing i seem to do every night is hit the gym.
getting pissed is a once/maybe rarely twice a fortnight occurance for me and a lot of the lads on my course.

Yes, uni is a laugh, you do have a few drinks and socialise - but at the end of the day you have to knuckle down and do some bloody hard work (for most degrees).
And you seem to be missing the fact that it's a loan, it's not free money that you can piss away like EMA is.
I'm in my 4th year at the moment and have about 30k of debt to pay back. I've secured a good job with BAE and am grateful for the opportunity.
If I was starting uni soon I wouldn't be able to afford the 9k tuition fees as I don't have mummy and daddy to back me.
Not every student is a waster doing 'media'.

Steve is just bitter.
Someone on his facebook is clearly a twat which in Steve's eyes is a representation ofthe majority of students who go to uni all week then work weekends in retail to keep afloat. I worked every saturday and Sunday to keep my car on the road and worked with 90% student staff on them days. No one likes working weekends!
Also if the mugs piss up their student loan up the wall its their fault they will pay the consequences later on when the interest accrues so much that its a hindernce on their income.
Steve I bet you have been in debt at some point so dont act like you are some kind of working class hero

Just wait till all these chumps have to pay back their student loans and they have no job / earn under threshold...
I know what it's like to spend the loan for non education reasons
Mine went on alcohol, food, car parts, and partly towards my round the world trip
but I've already paid back a few thousand of it and will continue to.
A lot of these chavs who are going, studying shit, taking max loans, pissing it up the wall and then not able to get a job are never gonna pay it back

I'm surprised this anger at money is aimed at students tbh.
Seems a much worthier cause than the scroungers and absolute fuckwits that you see on Jeremy Kyle every day, who sprout kids all over the place and leave the tax payer with the bill.
If there's any thing wrong about this country it's that.

I don't actually get the whole 'Students using public money on loans' thing...
The student loans company is a private organisation isn't it?

When I was at uni, they had regular nights arranged for 4 nights a week, and then the society events/christmas/easter etc on top of that. Its not always easy to stay in and watch tv.

Wait until Pow spots this thread. His bitterness towards his ex leaving him when she was at uni boils over into any thread with students involved.

I am going to pay off my tuition fees (for this year) on wednesday
I don't understand students wasting their complete loans... But there aren't that many people in my group that do it... Probably 5-7 of them waste it, others live of it.
Me, fortunatly, have no loan what so ever, and work 24+ hours a week, and last year i did 40+ hours for 5 months alongside uni, and then blew loads on my car

Lumping all students into one category are we?
So what about the ones who do not get their tuition paid for?
I am a student, although I study part time, the rest of the time I work, 5/6 days a week.
I do not claim anything off the government or student loan!
As you have said though some people do just go for the piss up, but not all students.
As someone else has said also, it is bloody hard work sometimes, try doing a 60 hour working week as well as studying and taking exams and commuting to Uni and back.
You can also flip this around. do people moan as much about people on benefits buying playstations etc?
